Tourist animator internships: we have long wanted to address this topic, namely the absolute futility for an animator to do animation internships in order to train and work in our industry.
The first thing we would like to emphasise is the duration of this type of workshop usually organised for an animator: 1/2 days.
So the question arises: do you think you can really learn a job in one or two days?
And all the more so, in one or two days a company can understand and carefully assess your aptitudes and then hire you?
In our humble opinion, this is impossible!
Firstly because of the lack of time, and secondly because not having contact with the real public, i.e. hotel guests, the main element of our business, interaction, is missing.
Having said that, the intent of those who organise internships is clear: simply to make money. Not least because an in-depth interview would suffice for such a selection.
If you are a young person with no previous experience or a parent wanting to protect your child's career path, this guide will help you understand why spending money on an internship could be the first big mistake of your career.
Tourist animator internship in Italy: training or business?
Here we get to the heart of the matter. Most agencies, whether large or small, organise various internships throughout the year to become a tourist animator. .
The cost varies from 100 to 300 euros per person including board and lodging and never guarantees a certain job placement.
But even if you were to be hired, unfortunately the conditions are very bad.
Working hours exceeding 15 hours per day, no protection, no effective days off, holidays, leave, contributions, no severance pay.
And the icing on the cake, all this to earn a whopping 400 euros a month! Yes you got that right, 400 euros a month!!!

In this jungle, because it is one, there are also scams that unfortunately affect thousands of young people seeking employment every year.

Last year, on 29 April 2019 to be precise, the collective agreement for Italian tourist entertainers was finally signed, which provides for a minimum basic pay of €1,160.

Very few, however, are actually applying it, resorting as usual to fictitious Swiss or part-time contracts with partial black payments.
Scams: how to recognise them
Every year thousands of young people are hit by real scams. Here are the warning signs to monitor:
Miraculous promises: Easy earnings, fast careers or exotic destinations assured.
Lack of legal references: If the agency does not provide clear details on the type of contract that will apply after the internship.

Internship tourist animator - conclusions
Being a tourist animator is a wonderful experience, but you have to be very careful who you approach, especially if you are offered an internship to be an animator.
You also have to ask yourself why you want to do this?
Do you think you have the right attitude?
Are you able to spend many months away from home, perhaps abroad?
The last piece of advice, you learn a job by doing it and not by wasting time with internships without any prospects.
If you really want to do something, enrol in a language course, even abroad, to be ready at the right time and have the true international animation.
Large international companies do not look for people who have done a two-day internship in Italy; they look for people who can speak English, German or French and who are open-minded.
